The Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO, Commissioner Kim Young-min) will hold a tour for briefings on the patent system in May, the “Month of Invention.” The purpose of the briefings is to answer questions on patents and other industrial property rights (trademarks and designs) from the general public, in order to induce continued interest and participation in IPRs while helping people realize their creative visions.
The briefings will be provided by officials of KIPO in Seoul (May 14, Korea Intellectual Property Center), Changwon (May 24, Changwon Intellectual Property Center), Gwangju (May 28, Kumho Hwasun Resort), and other regional cities. KIPO will introduce the improvements made to IPR systems that reflect the steady demands and needs of the public, as well as listen to live opinions in the field. The events are open to anyone wishing to participate, including inventors, applicants and patent attorneys.
The briefings are expected to provide comprehensive explanations on various themes to help the public gain a better understanding on a range of IPR processes, from application to registration and costs, and those centered on the recently amended patent laws. |
