Dr. Jung-Sik Koh, Commissioner of KIPO, signed an MOU for technological cooperation with Dr. Andy N Sommeng, Director General of the DGIPR(Directorate General of Intellectual Property Rights, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia) . Signed at Jakarta, where the DGIPR is located, on April 13 (local time), the MOU carries an approximate value of USD 40 million.
At the meeting, both heads agreed to develop the IP office automation system of the DGIPR based on the information technologies of KIPO and to organize the task-force (TF) required to develop the system. They also discussed various cooperative measures for system management.
Accordingly, the DGIPR plans to receive EDCF* from Korea Eximbank starting in the second half of this year, and will develop its own system based on the model of KIPOnet.
The project is expected to enable Indonesia’s advancement as an IP society. Meanwhile, KIPO will continue cooperative projects to broadly disseminate Korea's experiences and success cases in IPR.
